Citi has appointed Erica Poon Werkun as head of research for Japan, Asia North and Australia ( JANA ) as well as for Asia South, reporting to Lucy Baldwin, global head of research.

Werkun, based in Hong Kong, will lead the development and execution of the bank’s client, product and business strategies for JANA and Asia South, working in tandem with its business partners.

She is a board member of Citigroup Global Markets Asia and Citigroup Global Markets Hong Kong Holdings, a member of the Global Research ExComm and chairs the JANA and Asia South Research Executive Committee and the Pan-Asia Research Operating Committee.

Werkun joined Citi during June 2025 as JANA and Asia South deputy head of research and became the interim head of research for JANA and Asia South in September 2025.

She was managing director and head of Asia-Pacific research at Credit Suisse from 2019 to 2024 and previously worked at UBS for 15 years, as head of research in China, and before that as head of Asian consumer and internet research. Before joining UBS, she was at Goldman Sachs covering the consumer and technology sectors in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
