SMBC Investment Banking Dept., Project Finance Asia headquartered in Singapore is reorganizing internally to focus on long term marketing opportunities in Project Finance across Asia and Asian Sponsors globally.
 
The new structure consolidates SMBC core competencies to grow the business and continue to reinforce the bank’s reputation as the leading institution for Project Finance. The Singapore team will be organized into six sectors: Power, Renewables, Infrastructure, Oil and Gas Upstream and Oil Services, Oil and Gas Downstream and Petrochemicals, and Mining. Each sector will lead new initiatives to grow SMBC’s Project Finance franchise, already one of the strongest in the world.
 
Luca Tonello, who had assumed his new role as Deputy General Manager and Head of Project Finance Asia in August, will oversee the Singapore and Hong Kong Project Finance team in SMBC. Tonello reports to Noburu Kato, Director & General Manager and Head of Investment Banking Dept. Asia and one of the veteran project financiers in the bank with more than 25 years of global experience.
 
Jeanne Soh and Boon Kim Tay as newly appointed Co-Heads of conventional Power, a core focus of the bank.
 
Zia Azeez is appointed as new Head of Infrastructure, Mining and Renewables to drive long term growth in these segments.
 
In the natural resources space, Gregory Liu will take up role of Head of Global LNG to support Asian projects and global projects with Asian content globally. He will also head the team effort in China.
 
Travis Maurer will be Head of Upstream and Offshore Services, where the bank has had a number of successes, and will continue to look at opportunities through the cycle.
 
Raphael Chabrolle will head the team in Hong Kong which is primarily focused at supporting origination in the North and East Asia markets.
 
To continue offering unparalleled services to clients, the bank has also set up an independent advisory team covering Oil & Gas sector. Siddhartha Shrivastava will be the newly appointed Head of Oil & Gas Advisory, where he will focus on expanding the bank's advisory practice and opportunities in the downstream sector.

Valery Tubbax will continue to head the advisory team as Head of Power & Infrastructure Advisory.
